...having successfully made the jump to an uncharted system, they stopped to repair the shield array that was badly damaged during their escape from Orion.
Their short break was interrupted abruptly.
Ship's command module issued alert.
They found them.

With klaxon alarm echoing through the hull of the ship they looked at each other and knew it is now or never.
Diverting all power from engines to weapon systems and what was left of shield array, they mounted their defense against forces to come.
Positioning themselves in battlestations, they authorized ship's auto-cannons to fire upon the trajectory their attackers would appear from.
It had begun.

Their defence was strong, but suddenly there was one hit.
The blast knocked him out of the seat and left him unconscious.

His whole life, the goal they lived for, had flashed through his eyes and he was in no mood to surrender. Vision slid into focus, with flashing lights and sparks everywhere, he regained his senses.

Busted up, he pulled his body in the seat, placed his right arm on the trigger and fired like never before...
